Eve Hewson to be honoured at Oscar Wilde Awards
The Coronas are slated to perform at this year's Oscar Wilde Awards.
Rising Irish actress Eve Hewson is due to be honoured with the Wilde Card gong at the upcoming US-Ireland Alliance’s annual Oscar Wilde Awards.
Her previous work on-screen leaves viewers eager to see what she puts out next. She currently plays Becka Garvey in the Apple TV+ show Bad Sisters, adapted by and co-starring Irish writer and actress Sharon Horgan.
The Dublin-set dark comedy about five sisters conspiring to kill their brother-in-law has just been renewed for a second season. It also received a nomination for Best Drama Series for the Critics Choice Awards. Similarly, her work on Netflix's Behind Her Eyes and Claire McCarthy's The Luminaries gained her phenomenal reviews. Hewson's next project is John Carney's Flora and Son, which will premiere at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival this month.
The US-Ireland Alliance is dedicated to strengthening the relationship between Ireland and the United States. The Oscar Wilde Awards honors Irish talent in the entertainment industry.
Trina Vargo, president of the US-Ireland Alliance, noted that “the Wilde Card has been used to bring attention to rising talent who may not yet be a household name, but who we expect will be.”
Atonement breakout star Saoirse Ronan was the first recipient of the award, back in 2010.
Thurles actor Kerry Condon of The Banshees of Inisherin and Kerry native Jessie Buckley of Women Talking are also due to be honoured.
The awards are due to be held on March 9th, at Bad Robot in Santa Monica, California. Bad Robot is American filmmaker J.J.Abrams and Irish actress Katie McGrath's production company.
The Dublin-formed band, The Coronas, are to perform at the Oscar Wilde Awards. The Dublin pop band's seventh album, Time Stopped, was released this past October and hit No.1 in The Irish Album's charts.
