Jessie Buckley to be honoured with Oscar Wilde Award in California
Held by the US-Ireland Alliance, the annual event celebrates Ireland's contribution to film, television, and music.
Actress and singer Jessie Buckley is set to receive an Oscar Wilde Award at next year's ceremony in California.
The annual event is held by the US-Ireland Alliance and celebrates Ireland's contribution to film, television, and music.
The Oscar Wilde Awards will take place during the build-up to the Oscars on Thursday, March 9th, 2023 at the J. J. Abrams and Katie McGrath-led production company Bad Robot in Santa Monica.
Last month, it was announced that The Banshees of Inisherin actress Kerry Condon, who is a native of Tipperary, Ireland, will also be honoured at the Awards.
Both Buckley and Condon are tipped to receive nominations at next year's Academy Awards for their performances in Women Talking and The Banshees of Inisherin, respectively.
The 2023 Oscars are taking place on Sunday, March 12th, with nominations to be announced on Tuesday, January 24th.

Women Talking will see Jessie Buckley star alongside Frances McDormand, Rooney Mara, and Claire Foy. The drama explores the story of women in an isolated religious colony who struggle to reconcile with their faith after a series of sexual assaults.
Directed by Canadian filmmaker and political activist Sarah Polley, the film is set for release in Ireland on February 10th, 2023.
Jessie Buckley will also appear in Apple TV+ and Christos Nikou's Sci-Fi romance Fingernails, alongside Riz Ahmed. The film is set in a world where scientists have figured out how to measure love to avoid disappointment.

Buckley was previously nominated at the Academy Awards in 2022 in the Best Supporting Actress category for her performance in the Maggie Gyllenhaal-directed psychological drama film The Lost Daughter.
She will soon reunite with Olivia Colman in the comedy Wicked Little Letters.
Previous recipients of Oscar Wilde Awards include Jamie Dornan, Mark Hamill, Jim Sheridan, Chris O'Dowd, Colin Farrell, Caitriona Balfe, Ruth Negga, Sarah Bolger, Lenny Abrahamson, Saoirse Ronan, Brendan Gleeson, Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Neil Jordan.
