WATCH: Trailer debut for Netflix's Scrooge: A Christmas Carol starring Jessie Buckley
The Killarney native will play Isabel Fezzwig in the upcoming Netflix original film.
Netflix has released a trailer for its newest original film, Scrooge: A Christmas Carol, due to premiere on the streaming service on December 2nd.
The animated movie introduces a star-studded cast including Luke Evans as Scrooge, Olivia Colman as Past, and Ireland's own Jessie Buckley as Isabel Fezzwig, with Scottish director Stephen Donnelly taking the reins. Scrooge brings a new life to Charles Dickens' legendary Christmas tale. The plot follows Scrooge as he embarks on a Christmas Eve adventure to face his past and build a brighter future.
Dickens' tale is reimagined with music and lyrics of Grammy award-winner Leslie Bricusse OBE, making the cinematic experience not only time-travelling and supernatural, but something for the whole family to sing along.
"It's been a fascinating challenge to adapt such a beloved and often-told story," director Stephen Donnelly expressed. "I think this version will give those who know A Christmas Carol all the things they expect, but not as they've experienced them before.
"There are more than enough psychedelic, time-travelling and musical surprises to keep those familiar with the story on the edge of their seats, while the authentic essence of Dickens has been retained for those coming completely fresh to the classic tale," he added. "I can't wait to share this new version of A Christmas Carol with the world and sincerely hope audiences embrace it this year and for many to come."
This project is produced by Timeless Films in association with Axis Studios, who is responsible for award winning productions including Lost In Oz and Love, Death & Robots.
