New trailer released for Remain starring Jake Gyllenhaal

A new trailer has been released for Remain, a film starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Phoebe Dynevor.

Directed by M. Night Shyamalan and based on a story written by him and Nicholas Sparks, the film follows “reclusive architect” Tate Gordon who moves to a small coastal town to complete his latest project.

"He encounters an alluring young woman who pulls him out of his shell, and into the center of a deadly mystery that hangs over the town,” according to the official synopsis.

The trailer shows a romance between Wren (Phoebe Dynevor) and Tate (Jake Gylenhaal), which takes a turn when Wren asks why they can’t be together. A curtain flutters and she vanishes, but later Tate hears her crying in the bathroom. When he attempts to turn on the light, she disappears again. “Trust the Unknown” appears towards the end of the clip, which is set to Mitski’s ‘My Love Mine All Mine’.

Remain is produced by Shyamalan, Ashwin Rajan, Marc Bienstock and Theresa Park, with Sparks executive producing.

The original novel hit bookstands in October of last year. It centres on Gyllenhaal’s character, who arrives in Cape Cod following a stint in an upscale psychiatric facility where he was treated for depression after losing his sister who could see spirits. He falls for Wren, who has a mysterious past that Tate needs to unearth, according to an official summary.

The film will be released in UK and Irish cinemas on February 5, 2027.
