Tall Tales & Murder set for international release as Season 2 begins development
The series premiered on RTÉ in September and stars Ella Lily Hyland, Aidan Gillen, and Philippa Dunne.
Tall Tales & Murder has been picked up for international release by several streaming services. The crime comedy aired on RTÉ and BBC One Northern Ireland in September, and will soon air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK.
Filmin has picked up the show for Portugal and Spain, while Picbox has acquired it for streaming in Central and Eastern Europe. Earlier deals for the series include Australian streaming service SBS and ZDF in Germany.
Tall Tales & Murder got a two-season order off the bat, with the team behind the show now beginning to develop Season 2. The series is based on the nine-book Dublin Trilogy by Caimh McDonnell. It comes from Love/Hate creator Stuart Carolan, and was co-created by Emmy Award winner Chris Addison (Veep).
The series stars Ella Lily Hyland (Black Doves), Aidan Gillen (Love/Hate), Philippa Dunne (Amandaland), Aisling O'Sullivan (Raw) and Casey Walsh (also known as rapper Casper Walsh) in his first television role.
The drama "mixes a Bonnie and Clyde style adventure of bent cops, kidnapping, underworld fixers and the dilemmas of unconventional heroes and villains with an 8th Century tall tale of monks, Vikings, buried treasure and a priceless holy book," the official summary reads.
The show is a joint production between BBC Northern Ireland and RTÉ in association with Screen Ireland. It is produced by Avalon and Ireland-based Metropolitan Pictures.
