Colin Farrell set to continue his role as The Penguin in The Batman spin-off
Farrell will star as the villain in the upcoming Batman film featuring Robert Pattinson as the caped crusader.
Colin Farrell will reprise his role as The Penguin in a spin-off series exploring the villain’s rise to power in Gotham.
Farrell is slated to executive produce the film following his portrayal of the criminal mastermind in the upcoming The Batman film as reported by Variety. News of the series was first detailed in September but Farrell was not mentioned in the plans for the spin-off.
Lauren Le Franc is slated to write the script for the series as The Batman director Matt Reeves joins the show as an executive producer. Dylan Clark — a producer on The Batman — will work as executive producer on the series.
Farrell earned his name on the big screen with acclaimed roles in Seven Psychopaths, In Bruges and more, but the Irish actor has recently translated his skills to TV. He recently starred in True Detective and North Water.
Farrell recently finished filming The Banshees of Inisherin alongside In Bruges writer-director Martin McDonough and co-star Brendan Gleeson. Barry Keoghan also features in the third instalment of McDonough’s Aran islands trilogy.
