The Oscars 2026: Full list of winners
Follow along as we cover tonight's winners at the 98th Academy Awards ceremony.
The 98th Academy Awards are underway at Hollywood's Dolby Theatre. For the second year in a row, Conan O'Brien is hosting the ceremony, which is streaming live on RTÉ Player and RTÉ One.
There's a considerable Irish presence at this year's ceremony. Jessie Buckley is nominated for Best Actress for her portrayal of Agnes Hathaway in Chloé Zhao's Hamnet. Buckley, who has swept the awards circuit this season, is the hopeful to win the award.
Derry novelist Maggie O'Farrell, who helped adapt Hamnet for the screen, is nominated with Chloé Zhao for Best Adapted Screenplay.
Dublin visual effects man Richard Baneham is nominated in the Best Visual Effects category for his work on for Avatar: Fire and Ash. He won Oscars in the category in 2010 and 2023 for the two previous Avatar films.
John Kelly’s short film Retirement Plan is nominated for Best Animated Short. Domhnall Gleeson lent his voice to the film's lead character.
Best Picture nominee Bugonia was produced by Dublin's own Element Pictures.
Paul Mescal, who appeared as William Shakespeare in Hamnet, presented the award for Best Casting, a new category at this year's Oscars.
