Nicki Minaj has once again issued her support towards Donald Trump, as the rapper appeared hand-in-hand with the US President at the Trump Accounts Summit yesterday.
"I'm probably the president's No. 1 fan, and that's not going to change," said the 'Star Ships' rapper. "The hate or what people have to say, it does not affect me at all".
Canadian businessman and Shark Tank star Kevin O'Leary, who recently appeared in Marty Supreme alongside Timothée Chalamet, also spoke at the conference.
Other celebrities, such as Mark Ruffalo, Billie Eilish and Neil Young have recently spoken out against Trump for his immigration policies, condemning the current Immigration and Customs Enforcement occupation of Minneapolis. Yesterday, Bruce Springsteen released 'Streets of Minneapolis', a song in protest of the occupation, as a dedication to the people of Minneapolis.
Minaj herself immigrated to the US from Trinidad and Tobago as a child.
Minaj has faced scrutiny in recent months for appearing at Turning Point USA's AmericaFest last month, appearing on stage with late conservative-commentator Charlie Kirk's widow Erika Kirk. At the convention, Minaj labelled Trump as "an amazing role model".
Throughout her appearance at AmericaFest, she made several statements deemed to be transphobic, stating: "If you are born a boy, be a boy. There is nothing wrong with being a boy".
Days before the event, Minaj had published a series of anti-trans X posts.
In the past, Minaj had positioned herself as a LGBTQ+ ally, pulling out of a 2019 festival performance in Saudi Arabia "for the rights of women, the LGBTQ community and freedom of expression".
In a since deleted TikTok posted by fellow musician and former Minaj-collaborator Lizzo last month, the singer commented on Minaj's support of Trump.
“You’re about to see an influx of people who see that it is more profitable and more beneficial to join that side," she said. "You’re going to see it. It already started, and it’s going to continue.”
