Work To A Calm EP

Hmmmmm… a five-track EP from our Gemma. While I believe Ms Hayes is possessed of a voice that’s capable of sounding very special indeed, I have found her to be a little self-indulgent in the past. Now sometimes that can be a good thing, but there’s a little too much noodling going on here, and it’s track three, ‘New Day’ before we get a real, finished song. Beautifully sung, wonderfully played if lyrically unadventurous, and just cute-as-fuck, a little more of this and I’d be falling in love. Well, okay, more in love then. Less calm next time, please.
