WATCH: Hozier condemns Pope's gay stance
In his first major US TV interview.
Larry King Now was the setting for Hozier's first major sit-down chat on American television this week, as he opened up to guest host Kelly Osbourne.
The Wicklow star discussed his swift ascent to stardom, the power of his 'Take Me To Church' hit (he didn't think it would work on radio) and gave his take on the Catholic Church's attitude towards homosexuality.
On Pope Francis, the singer said: "He came out [in 2013] and said, 'Who am I to judge?' with regards to somebody's sexual orientation. But I think it's important to differentiate between lip service towards something and actually making change.
"It's something that should never be said at all, really, is what I should say. I think when actual doctrine change and policy changes... but it's still undeniably an organisation that has institutionalised an aversion to homosexuality, and an irrational one, too."
