WATCH: Eerie posthumous video for Child of Lov's collaboration with Damon Albarn
New video from mysterious modern blues man who passed away at the age of 26 in December 2013.
Martijn William Zimri Teerlinck a.k.a Cole Williams a.k.a The Child of Lov started out as a semi-anonymous bedroom producer. He signed to Domino's Double Six Records and released one critically acclaimed self-titled album as The Child of Lov.
The record came out in March 2013, Williams passed away 7 months later as a result of complications during surgery.
This video was commissioned just before his passing. Director Christine Yuan never met Williams and was unaware of any medical problems that he was having.
The video's fatalistic tone and lyrics like 'Hold me until the morning / One day baby I got to die and I lie down' make for an unsettling viewing experience. The track itself is a brilliant blend of blues and modern electronics and serves as a reminder of what a talented musician Williams was.
The track appeared on William's debut album, it was recorded in Albarn's 13 studio and features guest vocals from the the former Blur frontman.
