Monroe’s Tavern in Galway provides different international, national or local acts for every taste of music. Coming up to St Patrick’s Day, audiences can expect a variety of shows featuring funk, pop and traditional Irish music.
Killer Joes Jazz Club – March 12, 2017
The Galway Jazz Quartet returns to Monroe’s with their show providing a mix of laid back instrumentals to upbeat Bob Jazz. The Quartet, consisting of Dave Mathieson on double bass, David Lyons on guitar, Bosco Joyce on drums and Liam Carr on piano will be joined by the Galway Jazz singer Noreena Gill. Noreena, who debuted with her EP Something About You in October 2014, will provide vocals for the occasion.
Killer Joes Jazz Club will play in Monroe’s Side Bar at 8pm, free admission.
Dermot Byrne, Steve Cooney, Bríd Harper – March 16, 2017:
The trio of Irish musicians will be bringing the joy of traditional Irish music to their audience. Dermot Byrne will be there on the night, having toured all over the world with his music in collaboration with many famous names and chosen as TG4’s Traditional Musician of the year in 2013. He will be joined by Steve Cooney, an Australian guitarist who is one of the most dynamic and modern performers of traditional music. The trio is completed by Bríd Harper on the fiddle.

Stomptown Brass – March 17, 2017:
An energetic 10-piece street funk band, Stomptown Brass is up to elate the audience with their original sound and impressive show. The New Orleans brass band’s music is characterised by a mix of funk and blues with powerful rhythms. Their impressive line-up includes three drummers, three trombones, two trumpets, one saxophone and one tube.

Weekend Celebrity – March 18, 2017:
On March 18, LA band Weekend Celebrity (pictured here) will bring their party-inspired show to Monroe’s. After wrapping up two successful shows in 2016, Weekend Celebrity will provide all-night entertainment for audiences. With strings, keys and three-part harmonies, joined by violinist Allison Irvine, the party band will perform a mix is Top 40 hits and originals.
