Joan of Arse
‘Unwanted Gift’ [Julius Geezer]
Three new barbed beauties from the Arse camp celebrating/lamenting early morning sessions and bittersweet loves and losses. The skeletal and rich arrangements have become more confident and assured since their Lost At Sea LP, and ‘Saving Boys From Drowning’ is utterly beautiful. Jeanne d’Arse mysteriously intones; “I try making conversation/With the objects in the house.” Meanwhile, ‘The Notes That Destroy The Book’ contains the quip; “There’s always some prick there to remind of my dance moves.” One to put a strange weary sigh on your face and a melancholic spring in your step.
