“I’m just an understudy to the undertaker,” croons Paul Quinn in a hoarse, Joe Cockerish voice before he proceeds to document more neat epigrammatic lines of bittersweet irony. ‘Trudge Music’ is full of clever lyrics and interesting instrumental variations and this Irishman abroad seems to be slowly carving out quite a cult following. At times dense, at times uplifting, at times too idiosyncratic.
