Veteran folk-rock great Tom Russell will play Crawdaddy on Friday January 29th 2010 as part of the European tour of his stunning new album “Blood and Candle Smoke”.
The consummate storyteller, Russell is celebrated the world over for his vivid, novelistic tales evoking the spirit of the American experience. Among his most ardent fans are fellow artists; Johnny Cash, Doug Sahm, k.d. lang, Ramblin' Jack Elliott, Iris Dement, Dave Alvin, Joe Ely, Ian Tyson, Nanci Griffith, and Guy Clark, who have all recorded his songs.
On September 15, 2009, Tom Russell released his new album "Blood and Candle Smoke" featuring twelve original songs. With a career stretching back nearly four decades, and a catalog of more than 20 albums, Tom Russell is already considered one of the great singer/songwriters of our time.
