Cramps mainman thanked for "passing on his knowledge of all things rock 'n' roll."
Robbie Brady, multi-instrumentalist with Dublin garage merchants The Things, has paid tribute to Cramps mainman Lux Interior who died yesterday in California.
Under the header ‘96 Tears for 96 Eyes’, Robbie says: “Today there will be a tear in a lot more than 96 eyes as many fans including myself will have heard the sad news of Lux Interior’s passing away from an existing heart condition. I can speak on behalf of all of The Things in saying that we owe a lot to Lux and the Cramps for the inspiration they have given to our band, the passing on of his vast knowledge of all things rock ‘n’ roll through the Cramps music to his proto-goth, gender bending onstage persona. I was one of the lucky ones who got to witness their last ever UK show at the London Astoria two years ago. The trip was a birthday present from my girlfriend and I have to say one of the best presents ever. They were every bit as vital and vibrant as they were when they first released their Gravest Hits EP in 1979. Lux will be sadly missed by all us Things…”
