The Pogues Guitarist Philip Chevron dies aged 56
Punk guitarist with Irish band The Pogues has lost his battle with cancer.
Philip Chevron, real name Philip Ryan, was diagnosed with head and neck cancer in 2007 but was treated successfully and given the all-clear in April 2012.
However after a tumor was discovered in August 2012 the star's battle with the disease began again and was sadly lost this morning.
A statement on the band's official website commemorated their fellow rocker
"After a long illness Philip passed away peacefully this morning. We all send our sincere condolences to his family."

Chevron wrote the song 'Thousands are Sailing', a favorite amongst Pogue fans around the world.
