Dove Ellis debuts at No.6 on Independent Chart following physical release of Blizzard
Another milestone for the enigmatic Galway-born artist as his debut album debuts in the top ten.
Dove Ellis’ Blizzard has debuted at no.6 in the independent charts following its physical release this month.
The album was released for streaming on December 5 last year to huge critical acclaim.
This release coincided with two sold out shows in Workmans last week, where physical copies of his record were snapped up by attendees.
“Even in a room where you could reach out and touch him, you don't leave knowing much more about Dove Ellis than when you arrived,” said Hot Press in a live report.
“But maybe that's the point. In an era where young artists are stressed over posting content, Ellis reminds us that if you’re good enough people will have no choice but to show up.”
Ellis displayed a flurry of new tracks at the gig as new releases are expected in the future.
“Blizzard, gives off that same feeling that you’re witnessing the beginnings of greatness, but his vocals steer away from [Cameron] Winter's signature, unconventional baritone, instead boasting angelic harmonies and the slightest twang that makes every alternative-folk tune so addicting,” said Hot Press in their album review.
Dove Ellis is set to play a series of live US shows in New York and Los Angeles before he takes to the stage at Beyond the Pale on June 14.
Those US dates will be his first headline shows in America after opening for Geese during their American tour last year.
