Olivia Rodrigo releases new single ‘The Cure’
It's the second single from her upcoming album You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love
Olivia Rodrigo has released the track ‘The Cure’, alongside it’s music video. It is the latest single from her upcoming album You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love out June 12.
“This song means so much to me and I’m so, so, so happy that it’s out in the world!”, Rodrigo wrote on social media. “This song is the thesis statement of You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love and it made the whole album click for me. I hope you enjoy it xoxoxox.”
The accompanying music video shows Rodrigo in vintage nursery-style clothing, attempting to save lives, only to ultimately end up as a patient herself.
The song was produced with her longtime collaborator Dan Nigro.
The title of the song is not a reference to the band The Cure, although Olivia Rodrigo is an open fan. During her set at the 2025 Glastonbury Festival, she brought out frontman Robert Smith to perform ‘Friday I’m in Love’.
Olivia Rodrigo first rose to fame early in her career through roles on Disney Channel, including High School Musical. You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love is her third studio album. Her debut Sour achieved major international success, reaching number one in over 20 countries, including Ireland.
