The long awaited first single from the forthcoming album – her first in three years – finds Polly Jane as uncompromisingly left-field and abrasive as ever. A burst of barely repressed anger, ‘The Letter’ centres around a guitar motif strikingly reminiscent of Hendrix’s ‘Crosstown Traffic’. Add a strangulated vocal sound that would frighten the birds from the trees and you begin to get the picture. Not her best by a long shot but a real grower.
