The Dark is Rising
Divine and otherworldly - marvellous
One of the best tracks from the wonderful All Is Dream sounds divine and otherworldly all its own. Cymabls crash and an orchestra swoons, and that ever-lovable space pop cadet Jonathan Donahue croons like delightfully dysfunctional angel. Best described by some words from the wonderful Susan Cooper book to which it owes its title: “He was woken by music. It beckoned him, lilting and insistent; delicate music, played by delicate instruments he could not identify, with one rippling bell-like phrase running through it in a gold thread of delight.” Marvellous.
