The bassist has teamed up with Sailor Jerry for a new range of gear...
Iconic Clash bassist Paul Simonon will try his hand at fashion design this year, teaming up with Sailor Jerry Clothing for the first in a new line called 'The Flash Collection'.
In recent times, Simonon has been busy working alongside Damon Albarn of Gorillaz, contributing to the 2010 album Plastic Beach as well as touring with the band. His latest collaboration however, will see Simonon give tattooist Norman 'Sailor Jerry' Collins' style a re-vamp as he designs a limited-edition three-piece including a leather jacket, a t-shirt and a neckerchief.
"I've always admired Norman Collins' art", says Simonon. "He was a real original and his designs were the template for many other tattooists".
"It's the first time I've done a collaboration and combining art and clothes design is right up my street", says the founding member of legendary punk-rock outfit The Clash.

Speaking about the collaboration, Global Brand Director for Sailor Jerry, Enda O'Sullivan says "having Paul Simonon partner with Sailor Jerry on the first of The Flash Collection series is both humbling and very exciting. Paul is not only a musical legend, but a talented visual artist, whose attitude couldn't be more allied to what Sailor Jerry stands for. And it sets the bar very high for future collaborations".
A small stash of The Flash Collection by Paul Simonon will be available from [link]www.sailorjerryclothing.com[/link] later this year.
