The first trailer for Wicked: For Good, the sequel to the blockbuster musical starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, has been released.
The Wicked films are directed by Jon M. Chu and based on the Tony-winning Broadway musical Wicked, itself inspired by Gregory Maguire’s 1995 novel reimagining the characters from The Wizard of Oz. The second film is an adaptation of the second act of the 2003 stage musical.
The new trailer includes Elphaba and Glinda reuniting after finding themselves on opposite sides, as well as a first glimpse of Dorothy – although the actor who will play the iconic character has not been revealed yet.

Chu has previously said that it was “impossible” to make Wicked into one film “without doing some real damage to it”.

“As we tried to cut songs or trim characters, those decisions began to feel like fatal compromises to the source material that has entertained us all for so many years,” the director continued. “We decided to give ourselves a bigger canvas and make not just one Wicked movie but two.”
The first installment of Wicked became the all-time highest-grossing film adaptation of a Broadway musical, and scored 10 Oscar nominations, and took home two awards.
Additionally to Grande and Erivo, Wicked: For Good will star Jonathan Bailey, Michelle Yeoh and Jeff Goldblum.
The new film is set for release on November 21.
