The Black Lips to make Irish debut
Atlanta band The Black Lips are to play their first Irish show.
They'll be one of the first acts to grace the stage of the newly-refurbished Button Factory, the venue formerly known as the Temple Bar Music Centre.
The Black Lips formed as teenagers, when after-school friends Cole Alexander (guitar/vocals) and Jared Swilley (bass/vocals) signed up their friends Joe Bradley (drums/vocals) and Ben Eberhaugh (guitar). One of the hottest bands on the Atlanta underground, they've already made it through the tragic death of Eberhaugh in a car accident.
In the wake of the accident, the band recruited New Orleans-born Ian St. Pe and wrote a song about the experience - 'How Do You Tell A Child That Someone Has Died', which features on their debut album Good Bad Not Evil, released on September 17.
Tickets for the Button Factory show are priced €14 and are available from Ticketmaster, Road Records, City Discs, Sound Cellar and usual outlets. Support on the night is from The Things.
