Temple Bar Music Centre to host a Wall of Fame
Dublin is to get a new rock 'n' roll landmark, with the unveiling of a Wall Of Fame in October.
The wall in question belongs to the Temple Bar Music Centre, which is drafting in some of the country's top performers for the launch party.
The permanent exhibition will comprise of 12 classic images supplied by the venue's Rockarchive neighbour.
"It's safe to assume that U2 will be one of the Irish musical legends on the Wall, but other than that we're keeping things under wraps until the night itself," says TBMC's Dave Allen.
"In addition to the giant photos that'll be visible from the street, we'll have framed versions inside the Music Centre, which will be accompanied by profiles of the acts and the snappers. The new Philip Lynott statue aside, there aren't many visible tributes in the capital to the great bands and singers we've produced."
Acknowledging that who makes it on to the Wall is likely to be the subject of fierce debate, Allen reveals that, "There'll be a process whereby the public can vote for their favourites to be added. What won't be disputed is the quality of the shots, which are by people like Ronnie Norton, Jill Furmanovsky, Cathal Dawson and Sheila Rock."
