St. Patrick
He may be totally unsuited to battle it out in the singles charts with Christina, Tatu and the rest but you can’t blame James Yorkston for having a go. Despite the title and the presence of various acoustic instruments, St Patrick is far from a tired old trad workout, revelling instead in the kind of quiet atmospherics that made his ‘Moving Up Country’ album such a dark treat. Yorkston’s own instrumental mix takes it a step further, adding shimmering Mogwai style guitars alongside a mournful violin.
