‘Spitting In The Wind’ [XL / Twisted Nerve]

It’s not Damon Gough’s style to censor himself, but when he reworks the quirky Hour Of Bewilderbeast ballad into a jaunty ‘lil gem he redeems the whole exercise. A killer chorus you never knew existed bursts out from the hand-clapping, harmonica howling, all singing all dancing BDB ensemble. It’s a shame that Gough’s penchant for perfect b-sides is eschewed for another bout of lame remixing from the usually excellent Lemon Jelly and minotaur Shock. Still, a nice excuse in getting to star in a cinematic promo flick with Joan Collins.
