Slain In The Truth
Just when you thought you the Irish music scene licked, along comes a band from Omagh that blow the acoustic/electronica dichotomy out of the water and bring a ’60s-influenced Dylan-esque card back to the poker table. Don’t we normally leave this sort of carry on to the Brits? Recorded in Manchester, quelle surprise, we’re back on all-too-familiar territory here. ‘She Loves You’ guitar – check. Carnivalesque organ – check. Happy-clappy chorus – check. It’s a fine song, but one can’t help but feel we’ve been here before. Several times.
