Sk8ter Boi
The audio equivalent of a John Hughes movie, specifically that scene in The Breakfast Club where Molly Ringwald attaches a single diamond stud to Judd Nelson’s engineer boot. Brilliant and totally meaningless, this song is perfect teen-pop, it’s got sex, romance, good versus evil, rich versus poor and what passes for street cred among white middle-class kiddies: baggy clothes and skateboards. God, if only I were 20 again. Or she was 27… She’s playing here soon.
