Kieran Kennedy: “Sinners Like You And Me” (WEA)

With a title like that and Donal Lunny at the production helm it’s not too surprising that ‘Sinners’’ is a run-along-story tune about the ups and downs of life and its vicissitudes with a distinctly rootsy musical background that slides in and out of at least three traditions: folk, country and western and Irish traditional. A tender enough, well-intentioned ballad with a good emphasis on understatement which unfortunately flirts fatally with cliché.
