Self Esteem performs unique cover of Fontaines D.C.‘s ‘Starburster’

Self Esteem has performed a unique rendition of Fontaines D.C.‘s ‘Starburster’ for BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.

Also known as Rebecca Lucy Taylor, the Rotherham singer was accompanied by a full choir. Opening with their soft vocal performance, the keys, bass, guitar and drums were slowly introduced.

“I’m a big Fontaines D.C. fan, and I just love this song,” said Taylor. “I thought that it would be interesting to try make a Self Esteem version of it.”

The artist released her new album A Complicated Woman back in April through Polydor Records. She performed a one-woman show of the album at Duke Of York’s Theatre in London, described as “an ambitious quasi-theatrical experience that harnesses the power and energy of a gig but presents it through a theatrical format.”

Madonna spoke on the show, calling Taylor an “incredible artist.”

In September she will begin touring the album, including a performance at Dublin’s 3Olympia Theatre on September 24. Tickets are on sale now.
