Scullion release new single 'Face in a Cloud' from upcoming album Home in the Sky
The album is set for release in September.
Irish folk-rock group Scullion have released their new single, 'Face in a Cloud', the latest preview of their upcoming album Home In The Sky, due out in September.
The song follows last month's release of the band's cover of John Prine's 'I Remember Everything'. The upcoming album will feature eight new original songs alongside a selection of reinterpretations. It was recorded at Big Tree Studio with producer John Reynolds, whose previous credits include work with Sinéad O'Connor.
Formed in Dublin in 1979, Scullion are made up of Sonny Condell, Philip King and Robbie Overson. They have released six studio albums, with their most recent record being their 2022 album, Time Has Made a Change in Me.
Reviewing Time Has Made a Change in Me, Hot Press described the album as a "moving, star-studded return from Irish legends", noting that "Scullion have never been ones to settle completely in the safety of nostalgia."
Speaking about their new single, Condell, who wrote the song, described how "Sometimes you can see shapes in clouds, or a voice reminds you of someone, and its gone but hanging on."
"It's a song of regret I think, a few different feelings are intersecting."
An exact release date for Home in the Sky has yet to be confirmed, although it is due to arrive in September.
