The Fynches announce self-titled debut album, share first single ‘Heavy’
The Irish folk-rock band have also announced a string of Irish tour dates to boot.
The Fynches have unveiled details of their forthcoming self-titled debut album, alongside news of a full-band tour and new single.
The Fynches is due to hit shelves and streaming platforms on 7th October 2025.
Lead single ‘Heavy’ is the first taster of the album, marked by a dynamic of stripped-down poignancy and ornate, almost orchestral pathos. Introspective lyrics, emotive harmonies and striking acoustic guitar are heightened by the moodiness of expressive cello strains and a controlled, epic intensity. Check out the live video below.
Speaking on the release, lead vocalist Ferdia Walshe-Peelo says that this “is a song about being isolated. I wrote it during a lonely time in a chaotic city without the intention of releasing it but more as a way to process what was going on at the time.
“During the recording process with the band we ended up jamming it and it clicked immediately so we put it down straight away. This recording is the second time we had ever played the song together which is one of the reasons it’s one of my favourite tracks on the album. It’s very honest, organic and live!”
The Fynches’ previous single releases have been met with widespread acclaim, with radio play and live TV appearances. In 2023, they wrapped up their first Irish tour, followed by a gig supporting The Coronas at King John’s Castle in Limerick.
Accompanying the album news, the band have also revealed a string of tour dates around Ireland for November 2025. See the full list of dates below. Tickets are available to purchase via the band's website.
