WHITNEY HOUSTON: 'Run To You' (Arista)

I was hoping this would be a challenging cover version of the Bryan Adams stormer that livened up many a teenage disco during the late '80s. Sadly, it's just another saccharine ballad taken from the soundtrack to The Bodyguard, a film whose quota of saccharine ballads goes way over the recommended safety levels. The b-side, 'After We Make Love', meanwhile, goes way over the boundaries of good taste, with references to stuff like being "lost in the afterglow". Pur-lease.
