Radiohead give all-clear to free remix album
California beatmaker Amplive has been given the all clear to make his Radiohead remix album available as a free download.
The Oxford quartet’s original reaction to Rainydayz Remixes – a “re-envisioned” version of In Rainbows – suddenly appearing on the ‘net was to slap a cease & desist order on it.
Their opposition subsided when they got to hear the 8-track collection, which features guest vocals from the likes of Too $hort, MC Zumbi of Zion I, Jurassic 5’s Chali2na and Del Tha Funkee Homosapien.
Add in a personal YouTube plea from Amplive – “I’m a Radiohead fan and it was all done in celebration” – and how could they say no?
“While he realises that he probably should have contacted Radiohead – who were not involved in the project – to seek approval prior to making his interpretations publicly available, an agreement has now been reached between all involved parties,” says a spokesman for Amplive’s 1776 record label.
“Agreement” or not, we recommend that you download Rainydayz Remixes from www.onesevensevensix.com/amplive/index.html ASAP…
