The general consensus at the moment would seem to be that Rilo Kiley are poised for modestly great things. Fittingly, 'Portions For Foxes' is a fantastically great record. Aficionados of the heady days of American guitar pop will go all misty eyed at the marvellous melody, gorgeous harmonies and Jenny Lewis’ ice cool vocals. Throw in an encouragingly off the wall lyric that catches the ear from the very first line (“There’s blood in my mouth cause I’ve been biting my tongue all week”) and you get an unforgettable calling card.
