It's all part of a major Hot Press interview, out on Thursday January 29.
Scottish singer-songwriter Paolo Nutini has been talking about the huge influence Damien Rice has had on his career.
“I remember hearing O a long time before Damien released it,” he tells Hot Press in a cover interview out on Thursday January 29. “I think the first thing was the song ‘Volcano’ on a VH1 special. A black and white video with just him and Lisa Hannigan singing the song. And then, through his website, I found other pieces of music. I found the release date of the record, and that made me pick up a guitar, really, because I could play most of the album over four or five chords. So it helped me, it helped me a lot.”
Also up for discussion in our six-page Paolo Nutini special are Nick Drake, Franz Ferdinand, his beloved Celtic, working as a roadie, marijuana, his appreciation of his Irish fans and his upcoming live performance at the Meteors, and lots more!
