Ozzy Osbourne announces a final performance with Black Sabbath featuring Metallica, Slayer and Alice In Chains
Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit and Jake E. Lee of Korn will also make appearances at the event.
Ozzy Osbourne is scheduled to reunite with Black Sabbath for a final performance on July 5.
Called Back To The Beginning, the gig will be hosted at Villa Park in Birmingham. Osbourne will play a short set before joining the band, with the rest of the lineup featuring a "supergroup of musicians" including Duff McKagan and Slash of Guns N' Roses, Billy Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins, Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine and more. Presale begins on February 13 at 10 a.m. GMT, with general sales starting at the same time the following day.
“It’s my time to go Back to the Beginning... time for me to give back to the place where I was born,” said Osbourne in a statement. “How blessed am I to do it with the help of people whom I love. Birmingham is the true home of metal. Birmingham Forever.”
The set will mark Black Sabbath’s first performance in 20 years. The band, active since 1970, has sold over 75 million records worldwide and earned three Grammy awards.
“This will be the greatest heavy metal show ever,” said Morello, music director of the event and guitarist of Rage Against the Machine.
Osbourne has faced a number of health challenges in recent years, including Parkinson's Disease and a broken neck. Despite this, he has played at the Commonwealth Games and an NFL half-time show in 2022.
Proceeds from Back To The Beginning will be divided equally between Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Acorn Children’s Hospice.
Tickets will be available here.
