William Shatner announces metal album
"At 94, one does not slow down," said William Shatner. "One turns the volume up. So prepare yourselves. We are about to boldly headbang where no one has headbanged before."
William Shatner has announced that he will release a metal album.
Featuring 35 handpicked metal musicians, the record will include both covers of artists such as Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, and Iron Maiden, as well as original material written by his extensive team of musicians.
"Metal has always been a place where imagination gets loud," said the 94-year-old Canadian actor. "This album is a gathering of forces - each artist bringing their fire, their precision, their chaos. I chose them because they have something to say, and because metal demands honesty."
The idea for the untitled LP originated when the Star Trek star made a one-off spoken word intro piece for metal group led by American guitarist Chris Poland, Nuclear Messiah. According to Shatner, the experience was so inspiring that he decided to create a metal album of his own.
"When Nuclear Messiah came to life, something clicked," said Shatner. "It wasn't just a track - it was a doorway. It made me want to go all the way in, bring in the best metal players I could find, and create something fearless."
Additional details, such as the record's title, full guest line-up, track list, and release date, are said to be announced soon.
