Tony Iommi announces first solo album in 21 years, From the Dark

Tony Iommi has announced From the Dark, his first solo album in 21 years via BMG.

The Black Sabbath guitarist's third solo studio album is set for release on October 23 marking his first standalone full-length since 2005's Fused. Alongside the announcement, Iommi has shared the album's lead single, 'World Alone', accompanied by an official music video.

From the Dark was co-written with Norwegian vocalist Jørn Lande and co-produced by Iommi alongside longtime collaborator Mike Exeter. Queen guitarist Brian May also features on the album, contributing a guest guitar solo to the track 'Death Wake'.

Widely regarded as one of the pioneers of heavy metal, Iommi co-founded Black Sabbath in Birmingham in 1968 alongside Osbourne, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward. His distinctive down-tuned riffs helped define the band's sound across landmark albums including Paranoid, Master of Reality and Vol. 4, establishing Black Sabbath as one of the most influential bands in rock history.

Over the course of his career, Iommi has won three Grammy Awards, been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the UK Music Hall of Fame as a member of Black Sabbath, and received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award with the band in 2019.

From the Dark features eight tracks: 'Over The Violent Sun', 'Black Times', 'World Alone', 'Beyond The Dead', 'Stormwatcher', 'Death Wake', 'Return Of The Arbalist' and 'Legacy'.
