Other Voices serenades Dingle
The music programme lets vocals stand out over the weekend.
Irish singer-songwriters took the stage at St. James' Church in Dingle this weekend for Day 2 and 3 of RTE's Other Voices. A rainy Friday saw performances from leading singers Lisa Hannigan and James Vincent McMorrow, who impressed with his covers of past Other Voices guests including Amy Winehouse and Ryan Adams. Corkonian Mick Flannery reportedly played five tracks from his upcoming third studio album, without giving away the song titles or any explanations of their meaning. Canadian act Cold Specks made her debut with a set that filled the church with bluesy folk tunes.
On Saturday night, Edwyn Collins, Frank Turner, Band of Skulls and Cherry Ghost continued the string of live music. Former Orange Juice vocalist/guitarist Collins played tracks from recent LPs Home Again and Losing Sleep while Turner stopped by to play some folk tunes. Cherry Ghost featuring Doves lead man Jimi Goodwin brought the night to a close with unique covers of saxophone and harp solo pieces.
