Annie Lennox: “No More ‘I Love You’s’” (Anxious Records)
With The Tourists, Eurythmics and now solo, Annie Lennox has flirted with all things classical and operatic. However, as much as this single will please her fans it really fails to engage and sounds hollow and pretentious. As a woman who did so much for the female body-image on video and excelled in studio-based trans-global pop hopping, ‘No More “I Love You’s”’ is disappointing schmaltz.
