New Partner
And while a bunch of Americans borrow liberally from the British musical heritage, London’s Lincoln return the favour. That this EP’s title track is a Will Oldham cover will give you some idea where they’re coming from, indulging in the ghostly quiet style of alt country so beloved of Oldham, Lambchop et al.
Despite their nationality, they manage to get to the heart of the song and release its sense of melancholy joy, helped by a beautiful male/female duet and subtle brass arrangements. With their own material also more than up to the task, Lincoln definitely warrant further investigation.
