Music Network's autumn season details revealed
Music Network has announced its autumn programme, with four nationwide tours being undertaken by Irish and international musicians.
First up is ‘The West Awake’, a traditional Irish music tour, in September. This features sisters Cora and Breda Smyth, singer Pauline Scanlon and former Lúnasa guitarist Donogh Hennessy in what the organisers describe as "a celebration of the music of Mayo and Kerry.”
October sees the arrival of the Elio Villafranca Jazz Quartet and their American-Latin jazz sound. "Expect a hefty dollop of Afro-Cuban jazz with a dash of Thelonius Monk, Claude Debussy and Errol Garner thrown into the mix,” said Music Network CEO Deirdre McCrea.
Also doing the rounds are all-female recorder group Quartet New Generation and Finnish pianist Antti Siirala. Dates and venues are still to be confirmed.
