Music Network and RTÉ lyric fm to present live concert broadcast of “Blue of the Shortest Night”
The show will be presented on Wednesday, June 21, and include a mix of classical, jazz and traditional performances from the Aoife Doyle Band, Sonamus and more.
Music Network and RTÉ are collaborating to present a live performance of “Blue of the Shortest Night”, a concert performance which promises to showcase the best of classical, jazz and traditional music. Broadcast live from Studio 1, the gig will include performances from violinists Katherine Hunka, Ioana Petcu-Colan & Helena Wood, jazz/folk singer Aoife Doyle, baroque quartet Sonamus and singer Nell Ní Chróinín. Hunka has notably been the later of the Irish Chamber Orchestra since 2002, while Petcu-Colan has worked a range of talented artists from Martin Hayes to Arcade Fire, and Wood is currently the leader of the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra. Aoife Doyle will be premiering tracks from her highly anticipated album Clouds exclusively at the performance. Sonamus, a collection of talent from across genres, Cormac Breatnach (whistles), Annette Cleary (cello), Rachel Factor (harpsichord) and Eamon Sweeney (guitars) will perform songs from throughout Irish history. Singer Nell Ní Chróinín, who was the youngest winner of the TG4 Singer of the Year award in 2012.
The event will be hosted by Carl Corcoran. Tickets are free but limited, so visit musicnetwork.ie to claim them in advance.
