Music Ireland '07: Prince drummer John Blackwell confirmed
Music Ireland ’07 has scored a major coup by getting Prince drummer John Blackwell to grace the Sennheiser Live Stage at the October 5 to 7 event in the Dublin RDS.
Debuting with The Rainbow Children and currently part of Justin Timberlake’s touring band, Blackwell (pictured) has also played with the likes of Cameo and Patti LaBelle, and is regarded as one of the finest sticksmen in the world.
Also confirmed are clinics conducted by legendarily hard hitting drummer Bobby Arechiga, Belgian steel string guitarist Jacques Stotzem, and former Living Colour and current Head>>Fake man Doug Wimbish, who’ll be doing seriously amazing things with his bass.
The exciting news for U2 fans is that their designer-in-chief, Steve Averill, will be bringing his Stealing Hearts At A Travelling Show to Music Ireland ’07.
Also confirmed is the Sennheiser Band Competition, which will find one lucky – and extremely talented! - act picking up €5,000 worth of Sennheiser stage gear.
As announced in the last issue of Hot Press, there will also be live appearances by Paddy Casey, The Frank & Walters, Messiah J & The Expert, The Walls, Neosupervital, The Flaws, Royseven and others yet to be confirmed.
