Mumba's up
Samantha Mumba to take on the big screen again with new movie, Sleeping Beauty
Samantha Mumba is in line for the lead role in the remake of Lee Clark’s 1958 movie, Sleeping Beauty. The Dublin-born singer-turned-actress already has one major Hollywood blockbuster to her credit, having starred in the Spielberg box-office winner The Time Machine. However, the Sleeping Beauty role would undoubtedly be her biggest yet, placing her in the frontline of female box-office draws.
"There’s no doubt that she has the talent," one industry insider told hotperess.com. "The only question is whether or not the world is ready to see a black artist like Samantha in a role that would traditionally have been seen as the archetype of pale-skinned beauty. But it would be a fantastic choice, for a whole lot of different reasons."
