Mouthmusic: “Move On” (Triple Earth)

Mouthmusic’s latest ensures their place in that tradition of uplifting, emotionally enhancing music and mysticism so well explored in the past by The Cocteau Twins and Dead Can Dance.

Led off by a sweet call on the Uileann Pipes, so enticing it could’ve come from the Pied Piper himself, ‘Move On’ compels the listener to do just as its title suggests. Rhythmic percussion, the tintinnabulation of assorted bells and hypnotic female backing vocals conjure images of bare feet stamping on dry, dusty soil, silhouetted against the light of a ritualistic fire. The lyrics are a feel-good invocation to the spirit, and simplicity itself.
