Morning Light

Pretty much the unsung and largely unknown element in the Faithless / Dido collective, Skinny are nonetheless potentially the most fascinating. On first hearing, ‘Morning Light’ lacks the obvious hooks of their colleagues but after a few listens the combination of the Millie Jackson sample, stabbing strings and the emotive storytelling of the lyrics begins to take root. Dramatic without being overblown, edgy without being abrasive, the original track succeeds where the rather unnecessary club and breakbeat mixes fail.
