Mary
As always, the Scissor Sisters are ever so generous with their B-sides…a funky Junkie XL remix of ‘Mary’, and a rather Elton-ified version of Franz Ferdinand’s ‘Take Me Out’.
Apparently, the band are irked by the fact that they’ve been compared on occasion to a young Elton John, yet this single isn’t likely to do their cause any favours.
They may demonstrate a wily versatility in their songwriting style, yet ‘Mary’ is still gilded with New York glam cool, effectively sounding like a Robbie Williams ballad as penned by Zero 7.
